Daniel is a Canadian, born in Toronto, 1974, on July 26th. He has a brother who is five years older than him and at the age of 15, he learned how to play poker. School then became something he totally lost interest in and started to play poker at different charity casinos, dropping out of school. His dream of becoming a poker star became a reality, or the start of it, when he won two events at Foxwoods, with a total of $133,000, winning the World Poker Finals. His professional poker career was now on its way.
At the age of 23, he became the worlds youngest poker player to win the bracelet for the World Series of Poker in 1998. He now has four to his name and he runs his own poker site, Full Contact Poker which is very popular and he is part of the Full Tilt Poker room. He has come a long way, from his start in Toronto and has written so many articles on poker and even does coaching on the side.
Many of his fellow poker players say that he is such a nice guy and he does not make anyone feel that they are stupid for losing, because he will be the first one to admit that he loses too. He is a player who has earned a reputation as a feared poker player and someone to take very seriously, if you happen to be playing against him. He has an unusual way, when he is playing, always talking and joking around. Of course this is a ploy to frustrate the players and keep the others guessing as to his hand. He will not give very much away, which makes him fun to watch. He is known to watch his opponents to see which hands they play and remembers, so that the next time, he will know how to play that hand.
He loves hockey and you will see him wearing many of the sweaters of his favorite teams, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since it is his home town, this is a natural thing for him to be one of their fans. Probably many of their players claim to be one of his fans too. He is a great guy and hopefully he will change the attitudes that many people have towards the game of poker. Play on Daniel.
