This is not the book you`re looking for if you want to learn about different poker strategies. It solely discusses the mental approach to poker you need to be a winning player.
To have the right pokermindset, you should:

  • Understand and accept the realities of poker
  • Play for the long term
  • Emphasize correct decisions over making money
  • Desensitize yourself to money
  • Leave your ego at the door
  • Remove all emotion from decisions
  • Dedicate yourself to a continuous cycle of analysis and improvement

These are the main subjects of the book, but the writer also touches on subjects like:

  • bad beats and losing big pots
  • how to handle downswings
  • different ways to tilt, and more importantly, how to prevent them
  • bankrollmanagement, cashing out and moving up/down limits
  • different levels of the thoughtprocess

Every topic is approached from a psygological viewpoint. This book can be recommended to players at all levels, since every player has to deal with the issues that the book covers.

I love this book! I lost so much money in the past by getting upset after losing a hand, I wish I would have read it before I started playing poker
