Here is a hand I was in the BB and UTG (very tigth player) raises to 3BB, two callers, one of which is a real fish and I wanted to be in the pot with him, so I called.

Your preflop call is fine, the callers are probably weak players and your / their stacksizes give you nice implied odds. You are investing $0.20 to hit a strong hand, such as:

trips/FH (1.5%)
two pair (2%)
flush (1%)

This means you have about 4.5% change to hit, lets say 1 in about 20. As you invested $0.20, you need to make at least 20 times this amount when you hit, or $4. In a 4 way pot with a few bad players you should be able to win that much, as the weak players will pay you off with a top pair hand or even weaker. In addition, 11% of the time you`ll hit a flush draw, sometimes in combination with a pair which is also a strong hand.

The assumption I made in the calculation above is that you won`t win anything when you hit anything weaker than two pair, like a top pair hand for example. But more importantly, I also assumed that you won`t LOSE anything when you hit such a hand. This tends to be difficult for a lot of players as they tend to overplay their medium hands in multiway pots.

This hand is a good example. 4 way your hand is pretty weak, the preflop raiser raised from EP so his range is pretty strong. If you`re ahead your opponents probably have a decent amount of outs and the turn will bring an overcard to the board most of the time, which makes it hard to continue on the turn/river. Add to this the fact that you`re out of position and it should be pretty clear that you should fold in this situation.

Raising would be an enormous mistake, you won`t get any calls from a worse hand except for a FD with at least 1 overcard, so you`re not that far ahead. The initial raiser has a short stack and is committed so raising to bluff doesn`t make any sense either!

I like the preflop call as well but I think you need to fold now. Way to many hands are beating you. If you mae a big hand I think its a very fishy call if say you hit a 7 and are up against AK. Also no spade in hand. MUCKIT!!

Getting curious here

At the moment I was thinking that maybe I was actually holding the best hand. After Japmaster´s analysis I am thinking that I didn´t have a reason to think that

Klyp raises in EP so his range is something like 99+ AK/AQ. His most likely hand at this point is 88-JJ. With the overcall its very unlikely you have the best hand, so I would fold.

So you called and sucked a 7 on the river? vs A2 and pockets

Ther is something you are not taking into account and that I probably overestimated at the moment of playing the hand. There is a flsuh draw on the board, and even with a paired board, in this levels people really overplay their flush draws.
Anyway, the pot was too big so far so I called the $1,63 bet, Besides, everybody checking the turn was suspicious of weak hands or flush draws. This is the complete hand, I know, (and I wanted to confirm it so that´s why I posted) it was pretty bad played. :r

Well you must have smelled something and you won the pot so NH. I am losing this hand 100 percent of the time I think your folding the turn to a bet right?
