I was hoping to play today's fr on UB today, but was unable to get the pw in time due to extreme server congestion. That's ok. While i would have been happy to play, i will not complain because i appreciate the opportunity you are offering to us the even play these in the first place. But i would like to offer some suggestions.

The tourney started at 20:00. I had been logged on to Pokerinfo.com since about 18:20. The pw came to my inbox at 19:41:59. I was not aware that the pw had been released until others started to enroll on UB at about 19:45. I was unable to access my inbox due to server congestion until about 19:56. I was unable to read my message and get the pw until about 20:06. By then it was too late to register.

Near the time of pw release, i noticed that there were less than 100 registered users on-line, but something close to 800(!!!!!!) non-registered users. Sadly, your server could not handle that volume. I might venture to guess that those 800 were pw thieves, mostly from certain unmentioned countries of origin.

My suggestions are several to choose from. 1) release the pw sooner than 20 minutes before the tourney, 2) have UB offer late registration, 3) get a larger server, 4) block IP's from those countries notorious for pw thieves (any registered user from those countries can still be place on an "allowed" list), 5) automatically kicked off non-registered users after one minute during pw times....the one minute window gives ample time for people to log-on, 6) block new registration within one hour before a tourney........and, finally, (and my personal favorite), 7) give only you and me the pw, and we will play HU for the $200.

dear Nobletruths
Your post is very much appreciated!
Good news is that as of 5 minutes ago, we've discovered the problem... our server is strong enough but some of the settings were incorrect given the new applications we've recently added to this site. So this will now never ever ever happen again!!! Frankly enough we did not anticipate so much traffic because of this freeroll and it was only due to the traffic that the problem appeared and that we were able to discovered the problem.

Anyway, what we will do now is arrange another Ultmate Bet freeroll very soon!! And because we appreciate your post we will make sure that you, only you, will get the password 3 hours beforehand. You'll get it through personal message.
That's the least we could do.
Now we just have to hope that you won't spread it around....

Everybody once again, sorry for those who could not access their mailbox because of the traffic but really, this is now solved for good this is never ever going to happen again!

Look at it this way.... we were still in Beta version

All the very best,

Thank you very much for your rapid response. I have been a mod assistant on other sites, so i understand, and will not abuse an earlier pw. And i am sorry that you have to deal with certain unpleasant posts and members. Thanks for everything.

Dear Admin,
it seems that your settings problems aren't solved, as today it was impossible to access the website when the password has been released.

I'm sure that without these problems, we would have more than 20 players on tonight freeroll on PKR.

Why not send the passwords by email ??

Many thanks

Dear All,

We can't believe it but yet again we have experienced another downtime of our server.
The last 30 min we have probably experienced some of the most stressful and angry minutes of our lives... And the situation so far is that we figured out the cause of the drama.

We'd like to explain what happened, which will also convince you it will now never ever happen again... unfortunately maybe this was one time too much for some of you... we hope not..... we really hope you'll give us one more chance.... please read the following:

Last week our web configuration was not up to the task of serving enough requests concurrent, so the site went down due to too much traffic.... our response was that we increased the configuration to take more requests at once... after today it appeared we increased it too much....
Due to the heavy load of visitors today and the unbelievable unfortunate timing of the passing by of google bots at the same time (!!), all concurrent requests consumed up all of our servers memory (yeah.. it was indeed that much requests!!).
This resulted in all swap space usage and as a result the death of our server as you have experienced it.

You might have been annoyed by this but we can guarantee you that you're not the only one. We are unbelievable annoyed by this as we work very hard to get this site working smoothly and turn it into a happy community....

Anyway, we have now limited the amount of concurrent request to be as much as possible, without having the risk to kill our machines. This means that in worst case, with too much traffic and google passing by as well, everybody now will get on queue for a couple of seconds (shouldn't be more then 5 seconds) until one of the processors can handle their requests. This will keep the website alive at all times and response in a time acceptable for hopefully everybody.

We are very very sorry for all inconvenience caused and we are also sorry in case you find this explanation a bit technical.... but this is what happened and it is the only way to explain our downtime issue. Those of you who understand our explanation will hopefully now see it's not gonna happen again.

We hope you guys give us one more chance.....

Oh yeah of course:
New PKR freeroll very soon!!!!!

Very best regards,
