My common play is to raise from UTG with ATs, I know is kind of in the edge but I do that and then depending on the number and quality of callers I play "fit or fold" mode.
But this time, there was a new player in the table that was raising a lot with nothing so I decided to just call and then call his raise.
The thing is that after this hand, the villan (not the one I expected to raise, he folded PF) was not too happy with my last call and kind of insulted me. Was he just frustrated for loosing it or was it a bad call? (IT was a bad raise from him, that is for sure ) I think my call was good unless I was playing against a really tigth oponent (this one has 38 VPIP and 25 from MP in 24 hands)

I believe you played it well, no raise pre flop so JJ its not an issue. Your only concern would be JT.

Ih he has anything to be upset about, is his play.

Yeah postflop fine, only JJ and JT beats you. Plenty of players who would stack off with a J or worse T.

Preflop I don`t think your rationale makes sense. You`re arguing that you are slowplaying ATs, which isnt strong enough. You`re planning to call a raise OOP and will miss the flop completely 67% of the time in which case you will probably check/fold the flop. If villain raises weak hands he is definitely going to call those hands as well so it`s way better to raise yourself than to limp/call.

I believe he slowplyed it because he expected the maniac to raise. But instead he folded. The rest of the hand speaks for itself. He played the player not the cards.

That is rigth, I expected him to raise, but I am not sure he was going to call, becuase he was much more likely to raise than to call a raised preflop pot.
Anyway, I understand what Japmaster means and maybe he is rigth

Basically there are 2 types of players who like to limp/call: the ones are folding everything postflop except the monsters, and the others play it like the nutzzz when they hit their top pair no kicker. If you wanna be one of them (and you will inevitably be when missing so much info not raising yourself).. well, be it

I still think he played the table more than he played the cards. I agree that you don't limp UTG with ATs but again he expected to make a move on the other player, and i believe you should reraise him like you did post flop.

You tried to make a move and it paid off. I agree with Japmaster, that's a poor hand to slowplay, but i understand what you tried to do. The only thing i would change on your plan was to reraise him and not just to flat call. You are in poor position and being the first to act is an disadvantage most of the times.
