See that a lot myself in cash game Rush poker. Best to stick to the normal stuff IMO. Rush poker is just based on making Full Tilt a lot of rake I think

Probably, it has no emotional connection to big hands so would make easy folds ?

So the tournament has started now....

I think so far it has been pretty drab, Argentina looked impressive yesterday but still early days and everyone is saying the tourney normally comes to life in the knockout stages

I prefer 6MAX myself for the simple fact that you can play a wider range of hands and see more flops and I hate the fucking nits at Full Ring who sit around waiting for Aces or Kings (Yes, I ran into them a lot lol)

<--- It caused a lot of this

Hey new here and hoping to gain a little knowledge from people here on the forum

I find QQ always runs in to Aces or Kings when i'm playing cash.

In tourneys I don't really have a bogey hand, they all seem to even themselves out over time. If I lose with QJ one hand I will win with it next etc etc

Funny because you see people on the T.V making calls all the time when they know they are beat and the commentators even say it aloud, "I can't see so and so laying this down here, too much money in the pot etc etc" but what it is when we call only to find out the bad news is our brain telling us we have a good hand and we could win a nice pot with it, but on the other hand we also know that we are probably beat but forcing yourself to lay down a hand like Top Pair Top Kicker when the flush or straight gets there on the river and you suspect your opponent has that hand is hard but nobody is perfect and even the pro's get it wrong sometimes.

Never listen to what anyone says about you being a donkey in the chat box or what have you as they are playing the same limit as you and cannot be much better right?

Also going off whateverman's post, I would myself be inclined to raise most pairs in any game except for 55-22 in Full Ring, most probably folding these up until the cut off. And possibly call re-raises with 66-99 depending on implied odds etc. Thats just me though and there are lots of ways you can play small pairs to medium pairs depending on how good you are at reading your opponents hands and betting patterns.
I often find though when I just straight fold my small pairs from EP and MP I mostly never hit a set. I find hitting sets harder than making better hands like straights and flushes lol

Great explanation from whateverman, it really does depend on your opponent and weather they are loose/aggressive, tight/passive etc etc.
If you are out of position to a loose/aggressive player and manage to flop a set or a nice combo draw then checking to him could be a good idea as most of the time Villain will fire off 2 barrels at the pot weather he has a hand or not, getting value in to the pot for you. Then put him to a decision on the river by firing out maybe or let him take a 3rd stab at it?
If we are playing against a passive player then maybe value betting your hands a bit thinner to coax them into calling with weaker holdings is an option.
Not forgetting all the other factors to consider, e.g board texture and table image. You are going to want to protect weaker hands against flush draws and straight draws too. Pot control is also a big factor when playing medium strength hands, you will want to get to the river cheaply and try to get some showdown value from a hand that missed the board like AK or AQ.
Really you just have to play it by ear when trying to extract maximum value from your strong hands and remember, you won't always get somebody else who hits the board you just flopped the nut straight on or whatever so don't get too down if you are met by a fold when c-betting or betting at a pot.

Hope this helps and do not just take my advice either, read more articles on this as this is just some of what I can remember and the more you read up on things like this the more knowledge you will gain

Cash - Buy in should be no more than 5% of your bankroll. So for NL10 where the max buy in is $10 your bankroll should be $200, preferably more ($250 - $300) to support the swings.

Tournament - Buy in should be no more than 2% of your bankroll, same method as cash for working out.
